Fractional laser resurfacing, a treatment that involves using lasers to remove the surface layer of the skin, has been widely recognized in Western countries since the 1990s as a rejuvenation procedure. This treatment helps regenerate aging skin, giving it a smoother and more youthful appearance. It also offers skin tightening and wrinkle-reducing effects.

Discovery Pico, the machine that will be used.

The “Discovery Pico” is a next-generation picosecond laser that allows for irradiation with three wavelengths (532nm, 694nm, and 1064nm). It can be switched and applied according to the specific condition, resulting in minimal impact on the skin during treatment compared to conventional lasers. It is effective not only for dark and prominent pigmentation but also for lighter and more challenging pigmentation issues. It offers skin brightening effects for freckles, melasma, and other pigmentation concerns, as well as skin texture improvement and overall skin rejuvenation, including pores and acne scars.

While traditional laser treatments for pigmentation used pulses in the nanosecond range, the Discovery Pico utilizes picosecond pulses, which are even shorter, at one-thousandth of a second. This extremely short pulse duration significantly reduces heat damage, minimizes discomfort, and reduces the burden on the skin compared to conventional laser devices.

Additionally, the Discovery Pico Plus works by delivering shockwaves rather than heat energy to destroy melanin pigments. This method reduces the risk of inflammation-induced hyperpigmentation and promotes less formation of crusts or scabs since surrounding cells are less likely to be affected, targeting only the intended melanin pigments.
